Overview

Manufacturing
Overview

The NB-IoT/4G IoT Water Meter is a new-generation smart remote-reading water meter that uses NB-IoT/4G communication and wireless digital monitoring technology. Its base meter is a high-sensitivity, liquid-sealed mechanical meter with a sensitivity ratio of up to 160, compatible with either non-magnetic or magnetic signal acquisition. Its separate mechanical and electronic design makes maintenance easy, while providing IP68 protection.

Built on NB-IoT/4G low-power wide-area network technology, the product offers deep network coverage, extensive connectivity, low power consumption and low cost. It enables automatic remote reading and real-time monitoring of water consumption, replacing traditional manual meter reading. It provides a reliable terminal foundation for water utilities to reduce costs, improve efficiency, manage non-revenue water and develop smart water systems.

Product Features

  • 01

    IP68 Protection

A fully sealed design and a battery compartment cover with a radial-rotation, dual-seal structure allow the meter to operate normally during prolonged immersion in water.

  • 02

    Optional magnetic or non-magnetic sampling

A recessed acquisition mechanism helps prevent interference from foreign objects and promptly reports an alert when interference occurs.

  • 03

    Convenient user interaction

A capacitive touch button wakes the device, while an infrared communication window provides convenient operation.

  • 04

    Freeze-resistant design (optional)

Plastic glazing made from TR90 polymer material adapts the meter to cold-climate operating environments.

  • 05

Horizontal battery access and independent SPC structure

The battery can be replaced quickly, while the design maximizes its discharge capability and reduces long-term maintenance costs.

  • 06

    Forward and reverse flow detection

Four coils or three Hall sensors provide pulse sampling to identify the direction of water flow.

  • 07

    Truly modular design

The base meter and electronic module are completely independent, allowing quick removal and installation.

  • 08

    Multiple remote data transmission options

NB-IoT, 4G Cat.1 and LoRa are available to suit different communication environments.

Technical Specifications

Technical
Specifications

The product has accuracy class 2, temperature class T50/T30, pressure class MAP16/MAP10 and pressure loss class △p63. Flow profile sensitivity classes are U0 (U3, U5, U10)/D0 (D3, D5); climatic and mechanical environment classes are O/B; and electromagnetic environment classes are E2/E1. Data acquisition uses AI camera recognition. Communication supports NB-IoT/4G Cat.1, with an IP68 protection rating.

Flow specifications cover nominal diameters from DN15 to DN50. Overload flow rate Q4 ranges from 3.125 m³/h to 31.25 m³/h, permanent flow rate Q3 ranges from 2.5 m³/h to 25 m³/h, and the Q3/Q1 ratio ranges from 160 to 320, meeting metering requirements across different pipe diameters and water-use scenarios.

Engineered to Connect

Technical
Advantages

  • Deep coverage

NB-IoT provides 20 dB more signal gain than traditional GPRS, enabling stable communication even in weak-signal environments such as underground meter pits and building service shafts.
  • Low power consumption

A single battery can provide more than six years of service life, significantly reducing subsequent meter replacement and maintenance costs.
  • High sensitivity

The base meter offers a sensitivity ratio of up to 160, enabling accurate measurement at low flow rates and effectively reducing losses from dripping and leakage.
  • Separate mechanical and electronic components

The electronic module and mechanical base meter are fully independent, making maintenance and replacement convenient without affecting the base meter’s metering performance.
  • Multiple communication options

NB-IoT, 4G Cat.1 and LoRa can be flexibly configured to suit different network operators’ coverage.

Applications

IoT water meter installed in a utility cabinet

The NB-IoT/4G IoT Water Meter is widely suitable for billing in urban water supply networks, residential water metering, commercial and industrial water monitoring, and upgrades to older residential communities. With deep NB-IoT network coverage, low power consumption and extensive connectivity, it is particularly suited to remote metering installations with dispersed locations, complex electromagnetic environments and limited power availability.

IoT water meter in a residential community

The product requires no wiring or concentrator and connects directly to the operator’s IoT platform. With low deployment costs and short installation times, it enables rapid, large-scale deployment of remote water meter reading and data management.
